What we did yesterday....

After lunch almost everyone was done with school, and so while we waited for the others to finish, we got badminton rackets, and had a contest to see who could bounce a gumball the most times on the end of it. the goal was to get to 15. Elayna got to 14 once and 13 twice...I got to 13 once and 12 once...but we gave up before anyone got to 15...you try it...its not easy! After everyone had finished their school, we played more capture the flag...then we were going to play cops and robbers but everyone was tired of running so we came inside and helped make supper then Catherine, Elayna and I took Daniel and Anna for a walk in their strollers. When we got back, we set the table and ate supper.
After supper Mr. Pierce took Papa and I and Elayna and Catherine for a quick car tour of the NC State campus... They have a "centennial campus" that has some 100 year plan or something...anyways we were saying that we'll probably not want to go to college there...you know, most colleges can teach you what you need to know in only 4 or 5 years...who wants to go to a college with an 100 year plan! <grin>
after driving around the campus, they took us to their Asian market shopping strips beyond shopping strips of Asian grocery stores, salons, clothing stores, restaurants, and anything else...there was one "Indian deserts and ice creams" and there's no end to them!! And there are a good many Mexican stores in there too, so I guess its the international market....I've never seen anything like it!
After seeing all those, we went to their friend's house the Cabbots....we sat and talked to Mr. Cabbot for a long time...he has a heart for planting house churches...like what we're gonna be doing...it was really great...we were there a long time....oh, and the real reason we went is because they were borrowing this cool video from the pierces called return to Huana and its a documentary on this tribe in Papua New Guinea...anyways I'd read the book about it... Mission Possible and so they wanted me to see the video...it sounds pretty cool...
When we got back, we played Scatagories for a bit...and then went to bed....
Other things...I finished Bruchko yesterday so now I'm reading Tish Tales...I also finished I Chronicles...

Out of town!

Sorry everyone... I know haven't been on here for two or three weeks... its just busy!!!! And since for awhile there I got thinking like "don't go online" its hard to get time to get on now!
But...here I am finally!
Does it have something to do with the fact that I'm not at my house? Sorta, I guess cause only one of the other kids are up...So...where am I? At the Pierces!! In Cary North Carolina which is right outside of Raliegh. They have 7 kids: Elayna-14, Catherine-13, Lydia-11, Joye-9, Hudson-7, Anna-4, & Daniel-1. They are a ton of fun... They used to go to our old church a ton of years ago. (I think 7) Yesterday, when we got here, the Pauls were here. They, also used to go to our old church... They have 4 kids: Joanna-9, Caleb-7, Elliot-5, Joshua-3 mo. They are a really cool family too!!! Yesterday, we watched the last match of Dr. Paul's Racquetball tournament...that was REALY cool! Dr. Paul got a gold medal in the doubles and silver in the singles...but I learned alot, namely, <span style="font-style:italic;">racquetball is not like batmitten! or tennis! or volleyball!</span> <smile> But by the end of the match, I could follow the ball, and the points, and the players and the whole game pretty well...
Then we did a play...Joanna is evidently very "into" doing plays! This one was called "Who's playing Romeo?" After the play, we all went outside and played capture the flag!! They have a really good yard for it, too. I'll try to post some more tomarrow...

What should we read?

yesterday afternoon I was looking through a bunch of old letters, and mostly just sorting them...Ben asked me to read one to him at one point, but I wanted to keep sorting so I told him, "not right now..."
When I put him on his bed, I asked him...
Me: Do you want to read a letter?
Ben: I want to read a book.
Me: You want to read what book?
Ben (very mechanically): Mike Mulligan and the steam shovel.
Well...of course he wants to... he always does!
Me: Well, you want to read Katy?
(Hoping to read something else...)
Ben (thinking I'd said "you want to be Katy?"): Yes, I be Katy and you be JoJo.
Our dear nieghbor, Mrs. Webb is moving to be with her daughter, so her daughter has come up here twice recently. Ben really likes her dogs, and their names are Katy and JoJo.

Things that Made Me Laugh

Overheard while Peter was fixing the lettice for a salad for the weekly potluck after the Dallas' church...
Mama: Peter, this is red leaf lettuce. The "bad part" you pulled off and set aside is the "red" part! We need to keep it, its good!
{grin}

~~~~~~
Our friends dropped us off yesterday afternoon after spending the morning testing with the other homeschoolers...Ben came out to meet us and then walked around to their car to say hi...but he was really quiet. Their 7 yo Daniel pet his head, and sorta played with him for a moment, but ben didn't make any response and remained silent. Daniel turned to me puzzled, "Does he do anything?"
~~~~~~

We were eating on our picnic table and enjoying some good weather. Ben, finished with his dinner was roaming around in the yard...then, he fell.
Dudley: Oh no! Ben, did you fall?
Ben: No, I didn't fall. I got tackled.
(some snickering at the table...remember, he's the only one out there...)
Dudley: Who tackled you?
Ben: Not anybody tackled me. I tackled myself.

Lent...

So...we are setting aside alot of time wasters till after Easter, and for me, i waste a lot of time on the internet. Email, my blog, other blogs, etc., they just plain eat your time...or mine at least! So I'll be on only twice a week: Wednesdays and Saturdays...but thats just till Easter, remember...So...here is your warning...and then I hope to be back!
