An adventure maybe?

Okay...here I am....two days later....I can't even keep my promise for two days....<sigh>

But then....yesterday was no normal day...no way!

I guess my story should start on Monday night after supper. Mama and Papa went for a walk, so it was Dudley, Peter and I cleaning the kitchen with Suzanna occasionally joining in our conversation. Peter starts by saying that something suspicious was going on....here were some reasons he gave and the rest added other "pieces to the puzzle."

Mama has been aching and longing for snow for the past two weeks...and she doesn't usually get her hopes up...but she got really excited when it was "supposed" to snow...(Note: It never did...)

Mama told us that everyone had to have all their clothes clean that day. Not just all our laundry, but every piece of our laundry was clean!

She asked Dudley if all his jeans were clean, he said they all were but the ones he was wearing. She told him to be sure not to get them dirty. He said he would try until they played football after lunch, but they would get dirty then for sure. She said that considering that, she might not let them play football. She even suggested they play something less messy...like basketball! (Note: We never play basketball)

Mama making sure that each of us had enough socks, underwear, etc. and made a special trip to Wally world just to get what we needed.

She asked Peter to fix supper for the next day. She said, "Just trust me, you won't want to fix it tomorrow.

She bought Ben snow boots at the thrift store saying they were "too cute to pass up."   Hello! It never snows here! And that's not usually Mama's philosophy anyways....

Mama going online on her laptop in strange places. Even to the point where she puts it on the dresser at the foot of the stairs and kneels by the dresser in the doorway to her room so that she has warning before any one would get near enough that they could see her screen.

Later she sits at the other side of the table on her laptop and when Peter came near and casually leaned over her screen, she turned the screen away from him.

After they got home, Papa telling Mama that he had some shoes that would be more appropriate at the office and then right after that announcing that he had to go to Goldie. (He has snow boots he keeps under his desk.)

Going to piano lessons and finding snow boots in the back of the van. (Mama had borrowed them from the Maguires.)

Mama telling the piano teacher something quietly so we couldn't hear and then saying in a louder voice, "But we will be here Wednesday."

       Nina making bread.

At verse practice Dudley commenting that he didn't feel quite 100% and Mama being extra worried and even horrified.

Nina admitting that, yes she did know about "it."

Mama tells us the next morning that we are going to find snow....but she wouldn't tells us where we were going....or what we'd be doing...It turned out to be skiing in North Carolina!! SOOOO MUCH FUNNN!!!!!!!!! Nina put up some pics...go check it out!

I'd say more, but I have got to go...

Delightful and very observant of you and Peter figuring out"something is up". Great story. I know it was a memorable trip for everyone. Keep up the good work, Carolyn!
